Static facial lines: solid, rigid, fragile

Reading the sensations when looking at the face of the person being typed, often, an understanding comes to us about the direction of movement of the lines of the face - do they tend upward or flow down?

You can also notice the speed of this movement and its nature, but today we will talk about the absence of movement as such - about statics.

• Solid line •

Speaking of solidness, it would be appropriate to use the word "form" instead of "line", because. we are talking about volume - we would rather not draw a solid form, but, for example, mold it from clay, carve it from stone, carve it from wood or cast it from metal.

All these associations give the impression of solidity, stability, calm confidence and even some heroism of a person with a leading Solid face form.

Using these associations in style is quite simple - looking at the possible personifications of the Solid line in the world around you, you can imagine the density and texture of fabrics, the shape of accessories, the cut of clothes, hairstyles and haircuts.

Of course, the fabrics will be dense, with a matte or pronounced texture, the cut of the clothes is voluminous and streamlined, without sharp corners.

Accessories from the same materials from which the face was “created”. All details should be "weighty".

In addition, the imagination draws options for stylistic spaces - forests, rocky shores, rocky caves, landscapes of the old city, all kinds of statues in gardens and museums.

• Rigid line •

rigid line жесткая линия

A rigid face can be drawn with clear traced lines, calmly lying on planes. It can also be assembled from a metal constructor or, like furniture, from processed wood, as well as from glass, plastic and any other smooth flat material.

Rigid linearity - the linearity of modern production, the triumph of reason, some coldness, rigor and conservatism. And, of course, it is associated with the classics in the flesh.

When transferring associations to style, we get: thin, but shaped fabrics, smooth textures - matte and glossy (metal, glass, lacquered surfaces), high tone contrast of color combinations, a clear geometric cut and the same accessories, smooth hairstyles and haircuts with straight cut.

The possible spaces are, for the most part, man-made. A modern city with skyscrapers and business centers in them, as well as a city of the future, space aesthetics, the aesthetics of European organization or Asian minimalism, contemporary art and architecture.

• Fragile line •

fragile line хрупкая линия

Like an autumn twig or a dry leaf that has fallen from it. A fragile line is not a descriptive geometry, but a pencil sketch - graceful, fuzzy, incomplete, interrupted, disintegrating.

Such linearity can be created from thin wire or let frost on glass do it for you.

Tenderness, defenselessness and, of course, fragility - words that would like to describe the impression of a face woven from Fragile lines.

The presented fabrics, of course, are thin and “crisp”, transparent, “disappearing” - tulle, organza, lace. In the textures, there is an abundance of embroidery, both with threads and with beads / bugles, perforations and other small finishes.

Accessories are graceful, charcoal, multi-detailed.

Hairstyles and haircuts are textured, flying, multi-layered, milled.

The overall impression should be weightless and gentle as a feather.

Where can you find the Fragile Line? Everywhere in the nature around us, for example, in the autumn or winter forest, flower gardens, the southern steppe, in the subjects of Japanese and Chinese engravings, and in any graphic image created with pencils or ink.

That's all with "static". In the next article, we will consider intense and dynamic lines - Elastic, Flexible, Aggressive.

Thank you for your trust and see you next time!
